The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing's (DTCM) roadshow in Paris (June 2) to showcase Dubai 's ever-expanding MICE facilities to the French business travel market has worked well to its advantage. Over 200 tour operators, MICE and Incentive companies, meeting planners, corporates, media representatives and travel agents attended the roadshow and workshop to learn more about Dubai, its world class tourist facilities, superb infrastructure and quality of services. The DTCM was joined by 22 co-participants from the private and public sectors and a special award was instituted for the "Best Co-participants Workshop Presentation." The winner was judged based on the attractiveness, creativity, display, tidiness and interaction between the clients, co-participants and invitees at the workshop. An official welcome speech was delivered by Mr. Khalifa Ali Buamaim, DTCM Manager Overseas Promotions, followed by Mr. Pascal Maigniez, Director of DTCM Office in France . All year-round sunshine pristine beaches, a unique mix of high-tech and oriental flair, and prime conference and convention facilities contribute successfully to Dubai standing out as a perfect MICE destination in the international business travel market. Presently, Dubai has convention facilities of collectively 130,000 sq mts, offering space for more than 100,000 MICE guests. By 2008 the Dubai Convention Bureau is aiming at an additional 600,000 overnight stays by MICE visitors. |
