The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) successfully held a series of workshops in major cities in India recently, in an effort to boost Dubai 's stature as an ideal year-round business and leisure destination. The travel road shows started in Delhi and proceeded to cover the cosmopolitan cities of Chennai, Bangalore and Mumbai. The marketing and promotional workshops targeted more than 1500 participants from major travel agencies and tour operators across India , providing them with the latest updated information on Dubai , both from DTCM and the 18 co-participating hoteliers and Destination Management Companies (DMC) for the road shows. The DTCM instituted a special award for the best "Co-participant Workshop Presentation" during the roadshows that was bagged by Lama Desert Tourism and Cargo. The award was given away by Mr. Khalifa Ali Buamiam, DTCM Manager, Overseas Promotions and Mr. Saleh Al Geziry, DTCM Deputy Manager, Overseas Promotions, to Mr. Kulwant Singh, Managing Partner, Lama Desert Tourism and Cargo at the DTCM Head Office recently. India is one of the key markets for inbound visitors, having increased its tourist inflow to over 357,000 Indian guests for the Dubai hotels in 2005.
